Microsoft Minecraft: Education Edition

I am a 21-year Educational Technology veteran.  I worked in higher education before entering the K-12 arena in 2012.  I taught Middle School Technology Education before moving to the District Office's Department of Instructional Technology five years ago.  My last semester in the classroom, I was asked to pilot Minecraft: Education Edition.  I have been the district lead for M:EE ever since.  I have been interviewed and featured by Microsoft for the work Tucson USD is doing with M:EE, and presented at ISTE 2022 on Equity, Minecraft and Esports.  

 

I am a certified Minecraft Educator and Global Minecraft Mentor.  I serve on the Global Microsoft Minecraft Advisory Board.

 

I have been told by many that it is my passion when describing student outcomes and impact that inspires others to try it in the classroom.  I have had the pleasure of seeing many innovative educational tools launched to improve the learning experience for scholars, but none that supports the entire student (mind, body and soul) quite like Minecraft: Education Edition.  Minecraft: Education Edition has paved the way for other tools to do the same.

Minecraft: Education Edition is a game-based learning platform that promotes creativity, collaboration and problem-solving in an immersive digital environment. Educators around the world use Minecraft: Education Edition to engage students across subjects and bring abstract concepts to life.
Minecraft: Education Edition provides hundreds of standards-aligned lessons and STEM curricula, lessons on digital citizenship, social-emotional learning and equity & inclusion, educational tools, how-to-play tutorials and inspiring build challenges.
